When I joined, the company was called Atieva, a battery company with aspirations of making a production vehicle. The first job was recruiting - we needed a world-class engineering and vehicle design team, and we didn’t have much to show them. So we built an award-winning recruiting site, then developed the brand, and then defined the complete driver and passenger experience for the vehicle, from requirements through final UI, including the owner’s app and the connected ecosystem.

There was no design system to inherit, no prior model to iterate on, and no internal precedent for any of it. Over the next two years the team we hired built the Lucid Air - MotorTrend Car of the Year, the longest-range EV the EPA has rated, and one of the most impressive production vehicles ever made.
